So it’s halfway through the summer and you’re either (a) eagerly anticipating the colder weather and a chance to get back to school (or the normal routine of the fall schedule) or (b) wishing that you could bottle up summer and save it for those colder December days, trying to soak up every ounce of sunshine that’s left. (I realize that this is aimed at those of us who live in northern America – NOT you, Becky!)
Well as you’re in that spot of anticipating and bottling, here is a list of things you need to check out this August.
MISSIONS. Summer isn’t done yet, but it’s not too early to start thinking about next summer. May I recommend that you check out LOVE EUROPE! Next summer, SEND is sending 120+ young adults from all over the world to Europe for a week of training and three weeks of ministry in different countries in Europe. Seriously, consider this. God isn’t finished with Europe and He can use YOU to impact the lives of people living with no hope!
MUSIC: Josh Garrels. You’re lucky, he’s still giving away his album FOR FREE online. Check it out. Josh has a unique sound which comes out differently in each song. In one song, he sounds like Jack Johnson and in the next song he raps. And he does it all well. He’s got simple, profound lyrics like “By the voice of desire that leads em’ along / To the redemption of what went wrong / By the blood that coveres the innocent one / No more separation / Between us.”
READING: Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo. I normally don’t read these kinds of books, but for anyone who has ever wondered about heaven or has lost someone they love, this is an interesting read. Start it with an open mind – who says God can’t reveal Himself to us this way? It’s a quick read and an honest story about a four year old boy’s short time in heaven and his father’s answered prayer which God chooses to answer. Read more!
