So, I failed the December Photo Project. Alas, I have the photos! They’re just still on my phone. This week I am on VACATION so I’ll have time to make up for my lack of posting photos.

December 13: Treasure

This evening I went out to Lancaster to visit a young adult ministry called C4, and listened to a very compelling message on generosity and giving! Bonus of the evening? I got to meet up with a friend I met in Chiang Mai! We roomed together at a SEND retreat and she’s a part of this church.

Here’s one that’s making me ponder “Where your treasure in, there your heart will be also…” all over again. What is it that I treasure? What have I learned to love? How do my investments (money, time, friendships) reflect that?

December 11: How To…

… make those snowflakes! Last week, Maddy taught me how to make these creative snowflakes and now I’ll try to teach you.

Here’s what you’ll need:

- six pieces of standard white paper
- tape
- scissors
- a stapler
- hot chocolate (candy cane optional)

1. Take a piece of the paper, fold one of the corners in, to create a triangle. Cut off the excess.

2. Fold this triangle in half, so you have a smaller one.

Do this with all six pieces.

3. Take one of the triangles and hold it in front of you, fold toward the bottom and point facing out (the paper shape reminds me of Gill).

You want to make FOUR cuts up the triangle, cutting just an inch or so below the end of the paper.

Do this with all six of your triangles.

4. This next part is a little trickier, so here’s a video:

5. Now, I trust you have six beautiful pieces of ‘snow’ that you’re ready to attach together! Here’s when you’ll use that stapler. Take two spiral pieces and staple them together in TWO places – once at the base (where you’ll attach all six together) and again on the side.

6. Grab a third spiral piece and attach it the same way (at the base and side), making a set of three.

7. Make another set of three with the remaining pieces.

8. Your FINAL STEP (you’re almost done!) is to staple these two pieces together – once in the middle and once each attaching the other two sides.

WE FINALLY HAVE OUR SNOWFLAKE! To hang it, you can attach a piece of string to the top and tie it wherever you’d like it to snow. Sip hot chocolate and enjoy!

Our afternoon snack break during SalesForce training had me excited:

BONUS PICTURE! After training and dinner, I was able to spend three hours with the lovely Hailey, talking about LIFE. Such a good way to spend an evening.

Hailey introduced me to my new favorite winter drink: WHITE mocha peppermint latte. Christmas in a cup.

December 7: Cheer.

Today we wrapped up our coaching training and we all walked away with some great action steps – from our ‘practice sessions’ while being coached by each other and from our new tools and coaching skills.

Even a long day of training needs to be sprinkled with Christmas cheer, so here’s today’s picture from the tree in the International Office.

December 6: Snowflakes.

Here in Michigan it snowed yesterday and today, my first snowfall of the season. My colleague made a good observation (in the attempt to cheer me up after informing me that it was a lot warmer back home today): here we don’t have to plow, shovel, or drive – we can simply sit back and enjoy the simple beauty of the snowfall.

It really is beautiful.

After a long day of coaching training and a delicious dinner, I spent time snowflake making with my honorary little siblings (who taught me how to make these!). Friday’s Christmas party is going to be a winter wonderland. Just like Michigan.
